Beer review #2 - Estrella Damm(Spain)
Well another beer is well over due, 1 beer in 1 week so far, at that rate it will take us years to finish our quest!
Here it is however beer review #2 and Its Estrella Damm, a Spanish Lager and they are Emirates Team NZ sponsors so its gotta be a good drop.
Toucan Dan and myself ventured up to a little bar not far from where we work that we had heard had a $5 Estrella Damm happy hour, it was Friday night too so perfect time to sit back, relax and savour a lovely brew.
I had never had Estrella Damm before in my life so wasn’t quite sure what to expect, initial reaction to my first taste was favourable, it went down smoothly and didn’t have too much of an after taste and at 5.4% alcohol it didn’t have too much of a nasty bite for a lager beer that is reasonably high in alcohol content.
We finished 1 bottle each and Toucan and myself were keen to have another 2-3 each to help get a better appreciation for the beer :)
Personally I felt the beer was one that I could quite happily drink all evening on a night out, didn’t make me feel bloated or heavy(after about 3 bottles) and I would describe it as a reasonably crisp, fresh tasting lager with a slight after taste after you have had a few bottles.
However for some reason overall I felt as though it didn’t knock my socks off, I guess there was nothing in it that made me think, well I am going to drink Estrella Damm from now on.
Good beer, but doesn’t do that much to stand out from the crowd.
