Beer #7,8,9,10 - Hallertau Boutique Brewery(New Zealand)
This review encompasses 4 beers brewed by Hallertau Boutique Brewery which is located in Riverhead, Auckland, New Zealand.
First a bit of background about Hallertau Boutique Brewery, it was established in 2005 by beer guru Stephen Plowman and his wife Hayley with the intention to share their love of brewing with customers and friends alike.
Hallertau is about enjoying beer and good food in a stylish environment, something that is severely lacking in the New Zealnd market.
The name Hallertau refers to a small place in Bavaria, where in 736AD hops were cultivated for the first time.
Now onto the beer!
I ordered a beer paddle that had 4 beers and also a cider which I didn’t end up drinking, I was just there for the beer!

You also received laminated cards explaining the style of each beer.

The first beer was the Hallertau Luxe, a Kolsch style beer with an amber appearance and a fruity aroma, the taste was dry and crisp, perfect for quenching a thrist on a hot summers day.
Next up was the Hallertau Statesman, an American Pale Ale which had a hoppy and floral aroma with a hint of citrus. The taste was malty with a hop tang. Delicious!
3rd in line was the Hallertau Copper Tart, a traditional Irish Red, which as its name suggests had a coppery aperance. Its aroma was chocolatey and rich, as was the taste with a malty carmael taste at the forefront.
Finally is Hallertau Deception, a Schwarzbier historically from Northern Bavaria. A very chocolatey and sweet aroma, with a hint of coffee. The taste is quite a smooth blend of roasted malt and chocolate.
All of the beers were great, not being as much of a fan of the darker beers, I enjoyed the Luxe and Statesman slightly more than the Copper Tart and Deception, however I suggest trying these beers out for yourself if you get the chance and make up your own mind!!

Took the wife to Hallertau a couple of months ago and had their beer paddle along with the seafood platter. Food was great, but the beers were better. Especially enjoyed the Luxe. Had a few more at their bar afterwards. Basicly, a great night out.
